Profile

Jonathan is a PR professional and media lawyer who has looked after-high profile clients for over 25 years. Jonathan has consistently been named in the legal directories as a leading individual for reputation management. He has been variously described as an “indestructible warrior for his clients”, a “tenacious claimant lawyer”, as “very committed, up for the fight and sensible”, a “strong litigator”, that “he fights hard for his clients” and “can be relied on to robustly and powerfully represent his clients.”

Jonathan has honed his skills over many years as a partner in firms such as Schillings and Lewis Silkin. He has worked with top brands such as Amazon, Gucci, Disney, Talk Talk, TK Maxx, Proctor & Gamble, The Universal Group, Ecotricity and Jaguar Land Rover; along with high profile individuals such as business leaders, stars of TV, film, music and sport, and members of the royal family. He has even done crisis PR for a leading PR company. Jonathan has become a regular blogger for PR Moment Magazine, and his Crisis PR book will be published by Bloomsbury early next year. He has written numerous articles about media law and blogs regularly about media issues to his several thousand LinkedIn followers.

Jonathan’s work divides into three. He provides robust and rapid crisis PR, specialising in preventing the dissemination of damaging material, which he has often done for clients in the past. Using his expertise as both a litigator and media professional he provides specialist litigation PR around high-profile legal proceedings which threaten reputation damage. He also legals out films, TV programmes, books and other forms of content both to assess and to mitigate legal risk.

Jonathan also delivers a seminar on what can be done to prevent/control PR crises by deploying media law and regulation which has been enjoyed by audiences ranging from supermarket chains, PR agencies, charities, pharmaceutical multinationals, F1 teams and the cast of Eastenders. He recently delivered it to Cherie Blair QC’s Omnia Strategy which said this: “A true insider’s view of the intersection of media, freedom of speech and privacy”, as he did to Babel PR who said this; “Jonathan delivered a brilliant virtual crisis PR seminar”.

In his spare time Jonathan enjoys the company of his fabulous kids, Emily and Benjy, playing bass in his church’s gospel band and in a jazz quintet of much better musicians than he is.
